Akkaya is a village in the Ardeşen District, Rize Province, in Black Sea Region of Turkey.[1] Its population is 271 (2021).[2]

History

According to list of villages in Laz language book (2009), name of the village is Pelergivat, which means "with stork". Most villagers are ethnically Laz.[3]

Geography

The village is located 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) away from Ardeşen.
