Belfast Bulls
The Belfast Bulls were an American football team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Formed in 2002, the club became "full members" of the Irish American Football League (IAFL) in 2004.[1] The club folded in 2008.[1]
History
The Belfast Bulls were formed in 2002.[1] The Bulls won their first four matches. Although playing 8-a-side rules for the 2003 season, it was clear that they had a base to improve upon and to progress to the 11-a-side league.[original research?]
The team's rookie (11-a-side) season was 2004, where they progressed to the play-offs for the Shamrock Bowl.[citation needed]
In 2005, they reached the final of the Shamrock Bowl.[2] They lost the final, to Dublin Rebels, on a scoreline of 26–19.[1]
They competed well in 2006, despite losing some experienced players.[tone] Another Belfast-based team, the Belfast Trojans, was also formed in 2006.[3]
The Belfast Bulls folded at the end of the 2008 season.[1]
