The Geely Galaxy E5 (Chinese: 吉利银河E5; pinyin: Jílì Yínhé E5) is a battery electric compact crossover SUV manufactured by Geely Auto under the Geely Galaxy marque. It was introduced in May 2024 and went on production in July 2024.

The Geely Galaxy E5 is the second battery electric vehicle within Geely Galaxy lineup after the Geely Galaxy E8 sedan. It is based on the Geely Electric Architecture, derived from the Sustainable Experience Architecture developed by Geely. The vehicle is slated to be sold globally. In Malaysia, it is marketed as the Proton e.MAS 7.

Overview

The Geely Galaxy E5 was revealed with a set of images in May 2024. According to Geely, the vehicle was the first Geely vehicle to be developed with left-hand drive and right hand-drive simultaneously, indicating a greater focus on export markets. The vehicle will be sold under the Proton brand in Malaysia as the Proton e.Mas 7.[1] The vehicle is also slated to be the first product that Geely will introduce in Australia.[2]

The Geely Galaxy E5 was developed to compete with the BYD Yuan Plus / Atto 3, by closely approximating its specifications while offering a larger footprint to attract consumers.[3][4] It will be offered with a single-motor, front-wheel drive setup rated at 160 kW (215 hp; 218 PS) for a claimed top speed of 175 km/h (109 mph), paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery developed by Geely called the Aegis Short Blade.[5] Battery capacity options are 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh with rated CLTC range of 440 km (273 mi) and 530 km (329 mi) respectively. Geely claimed a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) acceleration time of 6.9 seconds. Geely integrated a 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system into the vehicle, which unifies 11 major devices such as motors, electronic controls and reducers.[6] Its battery is integrated to the body with cell-to-body (CTB) integration. Drag coefficient is claimed to be the lowest its segment at Cd 0.269, helping its power efficiency which is claimed at 11.9 kWh per 100 km.[7]

The software of the vehicle adopts the Flyme Auto car operating system which was developed in conjunction with Meizu, which is owned by Geely. The Galaxy E5 system will be powered by the Dragon Eagle-1 system on a chip (SoC), an automotive SoC produced with a 7 nm process.[6]
