Palangabad (Persian: پلنگآباد)[a] is a city in, and the capital of, Palangabad District of Eshtehard County, Alborz province, Iran. It also serves as the administrative center for Palangabad Rural District.[4]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 1,026 in 285 families, when it was a village in Palangabad Rural District of the former Eshtehard District of Karaj County, Tehran province.[5] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 1,012 in 306 households, by which time the county had been separated from the province in the establishment of Alborz province.[6] In 2012, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Eshtehard County, and the rural district was transferred to the new Palangabad District.[4] It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]

After the census, Palangabad was elevated to the status of a city.[7]
