Rasul Pahlawan

Turkman military leader

General Rasul Pahlawan (محمد رسول پهلوان) was an Uzbek military leader from Faryab Province, Afghanistan, and the brother of Abdul Malik Pahlawan. After serving in the Afghan army, he joined General Dostum and the Afghan forces following the Saur Revolution. Pahlawan fought against the Mujahideen and later, after Najibullah’s government fell, he and Dostum formed a party to resist the Taliban. He was killed in an ambush in Mazar-i-Sharif in June 1996. His brother Abdul Malik, who blamed Dostum for Rasul’s death, sought revenge by secretly negotiating with the Taliban.[1][2]
