Western Australian Debating League
The Western Australian Debating League, colloquially known as WADL, is the Western Australian Affiliate body of the Australia Debating Federation. Their mission is to ensure all students have meaningful access to debating that encourages critical thinking, foster engagement with global issues, and equip students with lifelong skills and the confidence to pursue their potential. WADL aims to do this by ensuring all WA school students have access to challenging debating competitions, high quality resources, and purpose-built development opportunities.[1]
WADL is responsible for administering the Western Australian Representative Team for the National Schools Debating Championship, as well as the local Schools Debating Competition and British Parliamentary Competitions.
Western Australian Schools Debating Competition
The Western Australian Schools Debating Competition is the most prestigious secondary school debating tournament in Western Australia. The competition uses the 3v3 Australia-Asia Debating format without replies. Traditionally the tournament culminates in September with the Schools Debating Competition Grand Final which sees the best 2 teams from each division (Novice, Junior and Senior) compete for the title of State Champions.[2]
