Yonas Mihretab (born November 23, 1985), known by his stage name Yonas Maynas, is an Eritrean comedian, film producer, director, musical artist and playwright. He has received several national and international awards,[2][3] including the 2021 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) for Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Traditional.[4]
Yonas began his career as a comedian in 2001 at the age of 16 while a student member of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students. He later made his first private comedy film in 2009 while contemporaneously working on his musical career.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Yonas was widely credited for being a cheerful voice entertaining and educating a swath of the Eritrean population both in Eritrea and abroad.[5]
