Douglas Payne

Douglas Payne (1875 – Londra, 3 agosto 1935) è stato un attore britannico teatrale e cinematografico.

Biografia

Nato in Inghilterra (si suppone nel 1875), iniziò la carriera cinematografica nel 1912 alla British & Colonial Kinematograph Company. Nel suo secondo film, Das Mirakel, dove recitava con Ernst Lubitsch, fu diretto da Max Reinhardt.

Nella sua carriera, che durò dal 1912 al 1933, Payne girò quasi cinquanta film. Nel 1922, fece anche il regista: diresse (insieme a H. Grenville-Taylor), Potter's Clay, interpretato dalla famosa attrice teatrale Ellen Terry.

Nel 1933, uscì The Flaw, un thriller dove Payne interpretava un ispettore di polizia. Fu la sua ultima apparizione sullo schermo.

Douglas Payne morì a Londra il 3 agosto 1935.
