Beat the Devil (film)

Ujedinjeno KraljevstvoBeat the Devil je britanski film snimljen 1953. u režiji Johna Hustona. Temelji se na istoimenom romanu Jamesa Helvicka, a radnja mu je smještena u italijansku luku gdje grupa međusobno suprotstavljenih varalica čeka brod za Keniju gdje će pokušati steći vlasništvo nad zemljištem gdje se nalaze vrijedne naslage urana.
Huston je film zamislio kao parodiju vlastitog filma Malteški sokol, odnosno parodiju film noir žanra uopće. U tu je svrhu angažiran scenarist Truman Capote koji je scenario mijenjao skoro svaki dan. Kritičari su rezultat nazvali "neobičnom mješavinom žanrova", a komercijalni rezultati su bili loši. Kasnije je stekao svojevrsni kult-status kao jedan od prvih primjera campa u hollywoodskim filmovima.
