Smithy je australijski crno-bijeli pustolovno-biografski film snimljen 1946. godine u režiji Kena G. Halla. Naslovni protagonist, koga tumači Ron Randell, je autralijski avijatičar Charles Kingsford Smith, a radnja prikazuje njegov život i dostignuća, uključujući let avionom Southern Cross sa kojim je 1928. godine preletio Pacifik. Film je nastao po ideji N. P. Perryja, šefa australijske podružnice američkog studija Columbia Pictures, koji je bio uvjeren da će Australija jednog dana postati "Hollywood Britanskog Komonvelta". Snimanje je pomogla australijska vlada, pa je kao rekvizit korišten stvarni Southern Cross, a Smithovi kolege i poznanici su tumačili sami sebe, kao i bivši premijer Billy Hughes. Smithy, iako nije imao potpuno pozitivne kritike, je postigao određen komercijalni uspjeh u Australiji; u SAD ga je, međutim, šef Columbije Harry Cohn značajno skratio i izdao pod naslovom Pacific Adventure (sh. Pacifička avantura). Randellu je, pak, temeljem filma povjerena uloga Bulldoga Drummonda u novoj seriji, čime je on nastavio karijeru u Hollywoodu.
